Our Theorist-Informed Approach
Abraham Maslow
Maslow's hierarchy of needs reminds us that basic needs such as food, safety and comfort are foundational to wellbeing. The pantry supports these fundamental needs, creating a stable foundation from which individuals and families can grow.
Stephen Porges
Polyvagal Theory teaches us that calm, safe environments help regulate our nervous systems. The pantry is designed as a welcoming, low-pressure space where people feel safe and supported, promoting a sense of calm and connection.
Lev Vygotsky
Vygotsky's work highlights how social environments support learning and development. The pantry exists within the broader Dreamscape community, where relationships and shared experiences help build confidence and new skills.
Urie Bronfenbrenner
Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory shows us that community environments deeply influence wellbeing and belonging. The pantry is part of a supportive ecosystem that nurtures individuals within their wider community context.
Comfort, Healthy Eating & Wellbeing
The pantry supports practical everyday meals, cupboard staples, nourishment and comfort through dignity-led access to essentials.
