Bringing Heanor and Surrounding Areas Together

This Remembrance season, Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C. is inviting people across Heanor and surrounding areas to help create a powerful community display.

Our aim is to create up to 11,111 individually numbered handmade poppies.

Each poppy can carry a positive message, personal memory, dedication or message of thanks.

Individuals, families, schools, care homes, workplaces, community organisations and local businesses can all take part.

You do not need crafting experience. People can join in at home, through a community group or at a supported Dreamscape session.

Every approved poppy will receive its own unique Dreamscape Poppy ID. The number will help Dreamscape record where the poppy was created, its message or dedication and where it becomes part of the community display.

Groups may invite a suggested £1 voluntary donation per participant, make a group donation, donate materials, organise another fundraiser or participate without fundraising.

Nobody should be excluded because they cannot donate.

HOW IT WORKS

Your Journey From First Poppy to Community Display

Dreamscape will guide participants through each stage so every poppy can be made, recorded and displayed safely and respectfully.

Register Your Interest

Tell us who you are, where you are based and how you would like to take part.

STEP 2

Choose Your Pledge

Select the number of poppies you hope to create individually or as a group.

STEP 3

Receive Your Guidance

Dreamscape will provide participation information and allocate an official number range where required.

STEP 4

Make and Message Your Poppies

Create your poppies and add suitable memories, dedications, messages of thanks or positive community messages.

STEP 5

Return or Display Them

Return your completed poppies to Dreamscape or apply to host an approved display.

STEP 6

Check, Record and Sign Off

Dreamscape will check, number, record and approve poppies before they become part of the public trail.
FOLLOW THE TRAIL

Explore the Community Through the Poppy Passport

The Poppy Passport will encourage people to visit approved displays, discover local stories and take part in the wider community trail.

Physical Poppy Passport

Participants will be able to collect stamps or location codes while visiting approved Poppy Points. The passport will create a keepsake of their journey through the programme.

Digital Poppy Trail

A digital version may also allow participants to complete challenges, visit locations and record their journey using a phone or tablet.

Final passport locations, launch dates and instructions will be announced once the trail has been confirmed.

APPROVED FUNDRAISING ARRANGEMENT

Supporting Remembrance and Community Connection

The fundraising arrangements for Turn Heanor & Surrounding Areas Red have received written approval.

All funds raised through approved campaign activities will be divided equally between the Royal British Legion - Heanor Branch and Dreamscape Community Connections C.I.C.

This approved 50/50 split will allow the campaign to support Remembrance while also helping Dreamscape create meaningful local opportunities for creativity, connection and community participation across Heanor and surrounding areas.

Every poppy and public message must be suitable for a safe, respectful and inclusive community display.

Respectful Messages

Messages must be suitable for a public Remembrance display and respectful of different experiences.

Safe Materials Only

Poppies must not contain exposed sharp items, unsafe wires or loose dangerous parts.

No Personal Contact Details

Do not include addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses or private personal information.

Children and Young People

Children should participate with suitable adult, school or organisational supervision.

Weather-Safe Displays

Outdoor poppies and fixings must be suitable for the location and expected weather conditions.

Final Dreamscape Approval

Dreamscape may remove or decline any poppy or message that is damaged, unsafe or unsuitable.

No. The programme is open to complete beginners as well as experienced makers. Guidance will be provided to help people create suitable handmade poppies.
