A Gentle, Free-Flow Christmas Experience 💙
A Seat at the Christmas Table will run from 12:00pm until 7:30pm at The Grammar, Heanor.
Rather than following a strict timetable, the event will flow gently throughout the day.
You can arrive, settle in, choose something to eat using your food token, explore activities, watch entertainment, take a break, leave and return whenever you feel ready.
Food & Refreshments 🍽️
Your ticket includes a food token to use with selected participating food vendors during the event.
Look out for the “Food Tokens Accepted Here” signs to see which vendors are participating.
Other festive treats, snacks and refreshments will also be available to purchase separately.
Activities Around the Room 🎨
Get creative with relaxed festive activities throughout the day, including creating decorations for our Christmas trees, crafts and activities you can take home, and opportunities to contribute to our remembrance area.
Coat Hanger Bears will also be joining us with a special activity for you to take part in. 🧸
Everything is optional — join in whenever you feel ready, do as much or as little as you like, and take a break whenever you need one.
Entertainment Throughout the Day 🎶
Enjoy live entertainment throughout the day, including solo singers, performing arts and dance performances, and a choir bringing some festive Christmas magic. 🎤🎶✨
Entertainment will take place at different points throughout the event, so you can stop and watch or simply enjoy it in the background.
There is no pressure to watch every performance or stay in one place.
Santa and an Elf 🎅
Santa and an elf from PDP Storybook Characters will be joining us for some festive Christmas magic. 🎅✨
They’ll be making appearances during the day, giving guests the chance to say hello, enjoy the moment and take photographs.
Meeting Santa and the elf is completely optional — there’s no pressure to join in or have a photograph taken.
Community Stalls 🛍️
Browse a small selection of local businesses, makers and community stalls throughout the afternoon. 🛍️🎄
Discover affordable Christmas gifts, festive treats, handmade items and information from local community organisations.
Most stalls will be open until around 5:00–5:15pm, with some choosing to stay open until 7:00pm. This gives you plenty of time to browse throughout your visit.
Come and Go Freely 🎟️
When you check in, you’ll receive your event wristband.
Keep your wristband on throughout the day so you can leave, take a break, pop home and return whenever you’re ready.
Your Golden Ticket will be used for our special evening experience from 5:15pm. ✨
Quiet and Sensory Space 🌿
A calm, quiet and sensory space will be available throughout the event for anyone who needs some time away from the busier areas.
Use the space whenever you need it, for as long as you need, before returning to the event when you feel ready.
There’s no pressure to explain why you need a break. 💜
Golden Ticket Christmas Film 🎟️🎬
From 5:15pm, it’s time for our Golden Ticket evening experience. ✨
Get cosy for our optional Christmas film with hot chocolate as we bring the day to a magical close.
Bring your PJs with you, or use your wristband to pop home, get cosy and come back ready for the film. 🎄☕
Watching the film is completely optional — you’re welcome to enjoy the evening in whatever way feels comfortable for you.
Your Own Pace 💜
You do not have to join every activity, speak to everyone, stay in the busiest areas or remain for the whole event.
The day is designed so you can enjoy Christmas in the way that feels right for you.
As space at The Grammar is limited, advance booking is strongly recommended to secure your place. 💜
Everyone is welcome. Come alone, with family, with friends or with someone who supports you — but please book ahead where possible as spaces are limited.
Most stalls will close around 5:00–5:15pm, although some may remain open until 7:00pm. The wider event continues until 7:30pm.
Children and young people must remain with their responsible adult throughout the event.
Dreamscape does not provide childcare or one-to-one supervision.
The exact order of activities and entertainment may change slightly as final arrangements are confirmed.

There Is a Seat for You
A Seat at the Christmas Table is a welcoming community Christmas event for adults, young people, children and families.
Everyone is welcome — whether you come on your own, with a friend or partner, as a family, with a parent or carer, with a support worker or alongside somebody you support.
You can attend:
• On your own
• With a friend or partner
• As a family
• With a parent or carer

• Alongside somebody you support
You do not need a diagnosis, referral or support plan to attend.
You also do not need to arrive feeling confident or already know somebody. You can take part at your own pace, enjoy the Christmas meal, meet others, join activities or simply spend time in a welcoming community space.
There will be no pressure to talk to everyone, join every activity, have your photograph taken or stay in the busiest parts of the event.
Everyone deserves to feel welcome, included and part of the community this Christmas. 💙

Booking Preferred — Walk-Ins Welcome 💙
Booking ahead helps us plan the buffet food, seating, activities and dietary requirements.
However, if you cannot book in advance, you are still welcome to turn up on the day. We will do our best to welcome walk-in guests, subject to venue capacity and meal availability.
Please speak to the Dreamscape team when you arrive so we can check you in and provide your event wristband.
Pre-booking is the best way to help us plan for you and your meal.

Volunteer With Us 💙
We will need kind, calm and reliable volunteers to help make A Seat at the Christmas Table run smoothly. You do not need to be loud, highly confident or have previous volunteering experience. Patience, kindness and a willingness to help create a welcoming space are what matter most.
Set-Up and Preparation 🎄
Help prepare the room, tables, decorations and activity areas before guests arrive.
Welcoming Guests 💙
Help welcome guests, support check-in and provide event wristbands.
Food and Refreshments 🍽️
Help guests understand the food-token system, find participating food vendors and access refreshments during the event.
Activities and Crafts 🎨
Help guests find activities and crafts, while allowing everyone to take part at their own pace.
Quiet and Sensory Space 🌿
Help keep the quiet area calm and welcoming. This role does not provide childcare, clinical support or one-to-one supervision.
Community Stalls 🤝
Help stallholders settle in, find their spaces and access anything they need during the event.
Gifts, Raffle and Present Hunt 🎁
Help organise gifts, raffle items and Christmas Present Hunt donations.
Clearing Away ✨
Help with tidying, packing away and leaving the venue clean after the event.

Volunteer roles are for people aged 18 and over. Volunteers will receive information and a briefing before the event. Dreamscape volunteers are not therapists, crisis workers, childcare providers or replacement support workers.
